Obamacare Will Cause Papa John’s to Raise Pizza Prices

CEO John Schnatter says new healthcare law will result in pricier pizza.

A slice of Papa John’s pizza will cost you a bit more after President Obama's Affordable Healthcare Act takes full effect.

According to reports in the trade publication, Pizza Marketplace, Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter says that Obamacare will result in a $0.11 to $0.14 price increase per pizza, or $0.15 to $0.20 cents per order.

The Huffington Post reports:

Under Obamacare, the company, which is the third-largest pizza takeout and delivery chain in the United States, will have to offer health care coverage to more of its 16,500 total employees or pay a penalty to the government.

It’s $0.15 to $0.20 per order, not $0.03 - $0.05.

From Facebook: Laura Cerrone – why would you eat papa john's pizza when you live in NY anyway? haha

I agree 100% with Laura. Papa John's should be a last resort for everyone -- including those who live outside of New York.

If eleven cents means Papa John's employees get health care, I don't have a problem with it. Maybe it would make working in that place a little less awful (but I doubt it). Yeah, agree with above. Stick with REAL pizza anyway.

Geoffrey, Matthew, Rondo--Papa John's (even though you do not like their pizza, assuming you have eaten it)--will not be the only business in the US to raise their prices on the products they manufacture or services they perform for the consumer because of the implementation of Obamacare. I recommend the Patch re-visit this topic one year from now and take one of their surveys to see if their readers are noticing price increases then. It should not happen, though, because President Obama told the public that , even with the addition of 30 million people (their number) to Obamacare Health, the cost to the American people would be LESS than the current system. So, the fact that my Healthcare Premium and deductible has gone up since the passage of the "Affordable Healthcare Act" does not make sense.
