Public Hearing About Two Percent Tax Cap in New Hyde Park

There will be a meeting about changing the local law related to the tax cap.

There will be a public hearing on Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in to discuss changing the local law regarding the . The change is being discussed so potentially the Village could go over the two percent tax cap if needed, explained at Tuesday night's Village board meeting.

The had a 19.53 tax rate although the tax levy itself was about four percent. The public hearing would allow residents to ask questions and voice their opinions about potentially allowing the Village to go over the two percent tax cap.

During the meeting, noted that municipalities upstate are looking at possibly changing this law as well.
