Schumer to FEMA: Extend Deadline for Sandy-Related Insurance Challenges

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer held a press conference at a Long Beach home Tuesday morning to call on the Federal Emergency Management Agency to “issue a clear and immediate ruling that would have the effect of extending the statute of limitations for [Hurricane] Sandy victims to challenge inadequate flood insurance settlements in court,” according to a press release from the senator’s office. Click here for more.

Tax Filing Season Could Be Delayed By a Few Weeks

The 2014 tax filing season will delayed slightly due to the recent government shutdown, the Internal Revenue Service’s commissioner said.
