Town of Hempstead Launches New Pool Safety Campaign

A wrapup of news in the Town of Hempstead

By Matthew Hogan

On the heels of the recent pool tragedy, Supervisor Kate Murray and Hempstead Town officials took the latest in a series of steps to help prevent tragic drownings across Long Island.

After last weekend's tragic double drowning in Central Islip, Murray directed the mailing of the town’s life-saving pool safety brochure to every home in Hempstead Town and has made it available to the general public.

Murray announced the new pool safety initiative Monday at a press conference held at the Echo Park Pool in West Hempstead. During the press conference, Hempstead Town’s certified lifeguards performed life-saving demonstrations, including a session on CPR.

While every homeowner in Hempstead Town will receive a pool safety brochure in the mail, the general public can request a brochure by calling the Office of Communications at (516) 812-3303.
