Furman Film Series to Start Soon

The Great Neck Arts Center-created Furman Film Series will start on July 11 with a viewing of the Tokyo Film Festival Audience Award winner, Sarah’s Key. This movie features Kristen Scott Thomas and Aidan Quinn.

On July 25, there will be a showing of the Sundance 2011 World Cinema Documentary, Senna. And the series will wind down on August 25 with the GCIFF’s 2011 Feature Narrative Award, My Afternoons with Margueritte.

Composting Continues

The Town's composting program will continue. Already, 1,000 composting tumblers have been distributed to Town residents; this program started at the Clark Botanic Garden in Albertson in April, 2010.

Those who participate in the program will get a 30-inch composting tumbler for $50 as well as a free instructional demonstration on composting techniques at Clark Botanic Garden, according to a press release.

“We want to change the nature of garbage, we want people to recycle everything possible," Supervisor Jon Kaiman said in a statement.
