'Trashion Show' to Return to North Hempstead

Town Notebook: Town Board meets next on Tuesday.

“Trashionistas” will take center stage at the “Yes We Can” Community Center in Westbury on Jan. 14 at 6 p.m., when they sport new creations made from recyclable materials or any materials that might have otherwise wound up in a landfill.

The "Trashion Show" is designed to help students in North Hempstead think about taking care of the planet, and sparing landfills.

“Education about sustainability at a young age will encourage them to become protectors of the environment and pass along the habit to the generation after them,” Interim Supervisor John Riordan said, in a statement.
