After serving two terms in the Nassau Legislature, Wayne Wink officially made his return to familiar territory Sunday after being sworn as town clerk in North Hemsptead.

With is wife and daughter at his side, the 46-year-old Roslyn Democrat received the oath of office at Clinton G. Martin Park from Rep. Steve Israel (D-Huntington).

Wink served two full terms as legislator for the Nassau County's 11th District. He   served for more than five years as Town of North Hempstead councilman from 2002 to 2007.

"So, I'm back," said Wink during his acceptance speech. "Back in the town where I started over 20 years ago as an assistant to the town board, where I came back as a member of the town board and where I now return as your town clerk."

Wink said in the days and weeks to come he looks forward to tackling the job of town clerk and helping to move the Town of North Hempstead forward.

In a close race, Wink defeated incumbent Town Clerk Leslie Gross in November.
