North Hempstead Vote to Use Environmental Legacy to Purchase Roslyn Country Club

Tonight on Roslyn Country Club - Vote on resolution to use Environmental Legacy fund to purchase Club for Town Park

The Town of North Hempstead has proceeded to go forward to vote on a resolution tonight that will utilize funds from the environmental legacy fund to purchase Roslyn Country Club from the present owner, despite legitimate objections from concerned residents of the community and Township.

Letters to the Supervisor and Town Council members asking for revocation of the previous resolution of June 19 in order to sign a contract of purchase have gone unanswered.

The Town of North Hempstead is determined to go forward without proper notification of either residents of Roslyn Country Club community, with 668 residences or within the Township itself where over 300 residents signed a petition opposing the resolution.

Burton Roslyn, an architect and former President of the Roslyn Country Club Civic Association, has a plan featured on his website purported to be a development plan for the Roslyn Country Club property in the amount of $6.5 million, which plan was NOT shown to the community or residents of the Town of North Hempstead at any town meeting.

The environmental legacy fund should not be utilized until residents are properly informed with all necessary details outlined in previous letters to the Supervisor and Town Council members.
