On April 1, 2013, award winning author Doreen Rappaport visited with Herricks students at the Denton Avenue School to speak about her books and her work as an author.
She explained that her subject is history and the themes of her books focus on individuals who showed courage, persevered and empowered themselves to address problems in the world.
Denton students have read many of her books which focus on the lives of well-known heroes like Martin Luther King, Eleanor Roosevelt and Helen Keller.
