Additional classes may be added to this grade since classes are almost at capacity

A handful of parents raised concerns about the Center Street fourth grade class being near its capacity guideline of 27 students and whether additional sections would be added at the board of education meeting at the community center on Tuesday evening.

One parent used words such as "unacceptable" and "embarrassing" when describing the class size situation at . Another issue raised was that a parent wished the issue had been brought before the district sooner so it could have been discussed more.

Superintendent Dr. John Bierwirth explained that the board can decide to add a section at any point between now and basically the first week of school to alleviate this issue. A report about this situation will be given to the board this Friday, Bierwirth said. He added that there are three or four classes in the district that are close to the guideline capacity wise. No classes have been added to date to address this capacity issue.
