Denton Avenue Kindergarteners Visit Schmitt Farm

Herricks students learn about farming and caring for crops.

With the arrival of autumn, Denton Avenue School kindergarteners in Mrs. Rosenman and Mrs. Rowe’s class visited Schmitt Farm to pick pumpkins.

The class enjoyed a hayride through the fields and learned about the many steps in planting and caring for crops.

After selecting their individual pumpkin, the children had the opportunity to explore the fields and pick vegetables.

Students learned about the parts of a corn plant and impressed the Schmitt Farm host with the knowledge they have gained through their science unit on plants.

The children enjoyed this memorable trip and were excited to take home their very own pumpkin.
