Herricks Appoints Residency Isssues Investigator

Joseph Wendling will be working with the district for the next school year.

The board of education appointed Joseph Wendling to be the district's investigator of residency issues for the 2011-12 school year. He will be paid no more than $20,000 and receive $20 per hour of work that is capped at 40 hours a week, Superintendent Dr. John Bierwirth said at .

Meeting attendees asked several questions about how Wendling's work will be conducted and what types of cases he will be able to handle.

Debbie Imperatore asked about what Wendling made at the other school district he does work for, , last year. Board President Christine Turner said that he made about $13,000 last year.

Residents were also inquiring about his success rate in the past how potentially successful he can be in this district.

Imperatore noted that the registration form, which talks about whether people are living with family, seems welcoming. Board member Sanjay Jain said he thinks only first degree relatives are allowed to attend the same school district.

Board Vice President Richard Buckley said that the district will give Wendling "whatever he needs."

Turner noted that if Wendling catches one person who does not live in the district, his salary pays for itself.
