The Herricks Board of Education held a meeting on Thursday, August 9. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

Tax Anticipation Notes

  • The tax levy for the 2012-2013 school year has been set at $89,429,579, which is a tax increase of 2.88 percent.
  • The board approved of the sale of $9 million in tax anticipation notes at a net interest rate of 0.2695 percent for the 2012-2013 school year.

  • A gift of $2,041.20 from the Herricks Athletic Boosters was accepted by the board to buy tennis wind screens.
  • Another gift of $3,577 from the Herricks Athletic Boosters was accepted to get a Smith Press machine for the ’s fitness room.

Other Board News

  • The board approved a measure to put $1,017,162 in the worker’s compensation reserve fund as of June 30.
  • A joint adult education program between Herricks and the Roslyn School District was approved by the board.
  • An initial contract for services with BOCES for the 2012-2013 school year to the tune of $3,172,064.50 was approved by the board.
