The Herricks Board of Education held a meeting on Thursday, July 19. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

Advanced Placement Exams

  • A total of 75.5 percent of students last year took at least one Advanced Placement class, Superintendent Dr. John Bierwirth said.
  • The superintendent also noted that the percentage of students who were doing this when he began working in the district was about 30 percent.

Other Board News

  • A memorandum of agreement with the Herricks Association of Administration and Supervisors has been reached . Dr. Bierwirth said that he and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Hayes complete a two-day course related to this and that he can now evaluate principals. “Finally,” board member Dr. Sanjay Jain quipped.
  • Chris Connors has been appointed as the district's registrar.
