Herricks High School Junior Named Regional Poetry Winner
Junior Meenakshi Krishna selected as regional finalist.
Herricks High School Junior Meenakshi Krishna was selected as a winner at the regional finals of “The Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest,” a program designed to encourage the nation's youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance.
Created by the National Endowment for the Arts, the contest will award $50,000 in scholarships and school stipends at the national finals in Washington D.C.
Meenakshi will compete at the state finals in Albany on March 24, 2012.
