Herricks Science Student to Compete in International Science Fair

Junior Andrew Lee announced as a 2013 finalist in the I-SWEEEP Olympiad.

Herricks High School junior Andrew Lee has been announced as a 2013 finalist in the International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering, Environment Project Olympiad (I-SWEEEP).

He will compete in Houston, TX from May 8-12, 2013. Lee’s project is entitled “Design and Control of an Expressive Robotic Head for Human-Robot Interaction Research.” He completed his research at NYU-Polytechnic University.

Lee is the son of Linda and KaKwe Lee of Albertson and has been mentored by Herricks High School Science Research teacher Mrs. Renee Barcia.

I-SWEEEP is a unique international science fair because it focuses on energy,engineering, and environmental projects.

The goal of I-SWEEEP goal is tospark interest and awareness on our planet’s sustainability challenges and itencourages high school students to seek alternative solutions for a sustainableworld.
