By Alexandra Zendrian

The Herricks Board of Education approved the BOCES budget for the 2013-2014 school year at its recent meeting last Wednesday night at the community center.

The 2013-14 BOCES budget totals $19,686,115 an increase of two percent from the current year’s budget.

Superintendent Dr. John Bierwirth said that BOCES keeping its budget to just a two percent increase with similar pressures that the school district has regarding healthinsurance and pensions is “remarkable.”

In addition to approving the budget for the 2013-2014 school year, the school board also casted its vote for Ronald Ellerbe, Robert Shoen and Fran Langsner to beNassau County BOCES trustees.
