Gerri Cookler gave the update from the guidance department.  She reminded parents that night sessions will be set up in the coming months to accommodate those unable to meet with their child's counselor during the day.

The fundraising committee raised the idea of a defensive driving class to help folks save on their auto insurance while raising money for the school.  Also, a plant sale is scheduled for May 6, in conjunction once again with White Post Farms.

The Central Council gave their report, mentioning some of the fundraising efforts taking place across the district, such as a used book sale and a comedy show.  The council will be awarding two scholarships per school, and any seniors at New Hyde Park interested in applying should go to the guidance office.

The council also reminded folks that is retiring effective July 1, but will still be involved in the planning of next year's budget.  A liaison meeting is scheduled for March 3.

With all the bad weather as of late, the issue of delayed openings was raised, and why the district doesn't seem to utilize them.  Principal Michael DeMartino explained that it has to do with concern for the buses out on the icy roads.

The next PTSA meeting is scheduled for Monday March 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school library.
