Manor Oaks Fifth Graders Beautify Pick-Up Area

New Hyde Park students spend spring day on outdoor cleaning and planting project.

On March 22, the students in Mr. Ralph Ratto’s fifth grade class at Manor Oaksembraced an early Spring-like day by participating in an outdoor cleanup and planting project.

Armed with shovels, rakes, gardening gloves and smiles, Mr. Ratto and his students headed outside with students cleaning up and beautifying an area where parents pick up their children from school.

After raking and bagging debris left from a very long winter, the students planted pansies. With so many winter days spent indoors, the kids were excited to get outside and work together on this project, learning how to work as a team, while bringing a touch of Spring to the Manor Oaks school grounds.
