New Hyde Park AP Artist Wins Award for Photo

New Hyde Park Memorial High School student Joe Carrotta wins art contest.

On Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 the Long Island Art League hosted it’s sixth annual Go APE! artist reception and awards ceremony to celebrate the artwork of 114 talented art students from 34 Nassau and Suffolk high schools Advanced Placement art programs.

Joseph Carrotta, Mehroo Ilyas, Lucia Terry and Vicki Yee represented New Hyde Park Memorial High School.

Winners in various categories were chosen by a prominent art educator.

Carrotta received an Award of Excellence for his digital photograph “Legs.”

Student artwork was on display from Jan. 12-20 at the Art League of Long Island's Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery in Dix Hills.
