New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Approves 2012-13 Budget

Frank Miranda, David DelSanto retained board seats, while Hillside Library budget also passes.

The New Hyde Park-Garden City Park school district budget of was voted in Tuesday night with 64 perent of the vote, 1,047-579. The tax levy increase for this budget was .

Superintendent Robert Katulak categorized the budget as a “very collaborative” one this year.

Three board members were competing for two seats on the board – ,  and . Del Santo was running unopposed and received 975 votes.

Miranda won his seat back with 672 votes and Lewandowski received 615 votes.

Miranda called Lewandowski a “very nice lady” and said that he “felt bad that she lost” while noting that he looks forward to continuing working with the board.

Residents of the district also voted in approval for the Sewanhaka District budget. A total of 961 people in the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park district voted for the Sewanhaka budget while 541 were against it.

Hillside Public Library

New Hyde Park voters decided to send Peter Pinto back to his position on the library board, reelecting him to another term with 926 ballots in his favor.

The Hillside Public Library’s 2012-13 budget of $2,888,625, which is a 1.89 percent increase from the previous year, passed on Tuesday after a vote at the .

The budget passed, 1,008-525.
