“I intend to work with NHP-GCP Board and the administration in order to overcome these economic times so we can maintain the staff to ensure a solid education for our students.”

Miranda feels that his background in IT and working for Nassau BOCES “can offer our district several alternatives to minimize spending in this area,” he said. “By offering new and innovated technologies we can maintain or reduce spending while improving the technology in the classroom. Nassau BOCES is very aware of our economy and is working diligently to help the 56 school districts not only in technology but in all other areas as well.”

He cited his employment with Nassau BOCES as giving him multiple contacts with many people throughout Nassau County as “this enables me to be in tuned with other school districts and state mandates such as APPR which are affecting us county wide.”

Miranda says that he has always been an advocate for education. “By educating our students to best of our abilities we are ensuring a successful future for all,” he said. “They are our most precious natural resource and our future.”

Miranda believes that still despite these challenges that the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park school community is “very dedicated” and strong.

“Whenever there is a crisis or someone is in need they always come together to help one another. I have seen this many times in my 20 years in this community,” he said. “There are many individuals who donate their time and energy to many organizations and serve the community, coaches, PTA’s, Dad’s Club and Our Wonderful Fire Department to name a few. These people offer selfless service to our community and I applaud them. This is why I want to run again so I can offer my services to the board in any way I can to the best of my ability.”
