New Hyde Park Memorial Public Speakers Students Win Big

Seniors Christa Alexander and Jerryl Abraham win first and second at competition.

On November 9, New Hyde Park Memorial High School seniors Christa Alexander and Jerryl Abraham participated in the Gotham City Networking High School Oratorical Competition in Partnership with Mercy College School of Business in New York City. The topic was the Progress of Change.

Christa spoke about Kofi Annan's Eight Point Peace Plan for Syria while Jerryl spoke about a new element that was discovered called Graphene, which is one atom think and has endless scientific possibilities.

Christa won first place and was rewarded $1,000. Jerryl won second place and won $500.
