New Hyde Park Memorial Students Receive Academic Awards

High school students honored at Sewanhaka on Tuesday for their academic achievements.

Before the formal  Board of Education meeting on Tuesday night, students in the district were recognized for their academic and athletic accomplishments this year.

Below are the students who were honored for their academic achievements:

  • Ancy Alexander – Future Business Leaders of America second place in the introduction to business category.
  • Abie Varughese – LIBTA first place in the computer applications division.
  • Harman Kaur – LIBTA third place in the keyboarding category.
  • Shivanie Muneshwar – Skills USA first place award for the state banner.
  • Ashley-Marie Paul – Teacher's Guild Contest junior competition first place for fantasy hairstyling.
  • Andrew Chang – Lee Marcus award for excellence in the Model United Nations.
  • New Hyde Park High School Spanish National Exam Level 3 honorees:
    • May Wu (first place)
    • Gladys Argueta (second place)
    • Shannon Thomas (second place)
    • Roberto Varela (second place)
    • Reem Ahmed (third place)
    • Caroline Rodgers (third place)
