Students in the Sewanhaka Central High School District and at New Hyde Park Memorial will not have classes through Tuesday according to a message posted to the school website Sunday afternoon. Classes would resume again on Wednesday.
Parent-teacher conference days, originally scheduled for Monday, have also been cancelled.
The message reads:
Parent teacher conference day, which was scheduled to take place on Monday, November 5, has been cancelled.
Sewanhaka Central High School District students should not report to school on either Monday or Tuesday, as these are still non-school days for students.
Students should report to school on Wednesday as originally scheduled.
Please keep in mind that this applies to the high school district only. Parents of elementary school students should refer to their respective elementary school districts for information regarding students in grades K-6.
Monday will instead be a superintendent’s conference day. Any staff members who were scheduled to work on Monday are still to report to work. Any staff members who were not scheduled to work on Monday are still not scheduled to come in. Custodial staff should report to work at their regularly scheduled times. All other staff members should report to their home buildings at 9 a.m. and will work until their regularly scheduled departure times. This includes instructional staff as well as support staff in all buildings. An announcement will be made on Monday about Tuesday’s schedule for staff.
We hope that everyone remains safe during this difficult time.
