New Hyde Park Schools Open Friday Despite Blizzard Forecast

All after school activities are cancelled for NHP-GCP, Sewanhaka and Herricks.

Students of the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park, Sewanhaka and Herricks School Districts will all have classes on Friday despite the looming forecasts of an eminent blizzard that is forecasted to hit the Tri-State area.

However, all of the schools have cancelled after-school activities, including athletics.

Herricks has announced the following cancellations and reschedules:

  • Saturday recreation will be cancelled tomorrow, February 9, due to the weather. We will resume classes on March 2.
  • The middle school performance of The Wiz has been canceled for Friday, February 8. Please return to the website later this afternoon for information related to the performances scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
  • The February 8, Center Street Drama Club cast and crew party is cancelled. The party is rescheduled for next Wednesday, February 13 from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. in the KAPR.
