NHP-GCP Superintendent’s Report: Building 2013-14 Budget and Christmas Concerts

Superintendent Robert Katulak informs residents of the first 2013-14 budget input session.

The following are the remarks of New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Superintendent Robert Katulak made during the public meeting of the NHP-GCP Board of Education on Dec. 10, 2012:

Good evening, everyone. It’ll be short tonight. We’re fully immersed the the budget-building process for the 2013-14 school year. All our budget builders now have their full packets in an attempt to keep expenditures down and programs and staff in place. Our first public budget input session is scheduled for January 7 at our board meeting which will be held that evening at Garden City Park Elementary School.

We had our first Christmas concert last week at the New Hyde Park Road School on Thursday night and a great time was had with all, we were throughly entertained. I’m always in awe of the wonderful talents of our students. This week’s – Manor Oaks – is 12/12/12, the last time we’ll have that same numbers going on and the following week, Garden City Park has 12/18 and Hillside on 12/19 and all concerts begin at 7 p.m., there’s no charge and they’re in their perspective home schools.

Our students and staff continue to prepare with advanced practice for the New York State Assessments which will be based this year on the common core learning standards. Our clinics for our students in need for math begin on January 14 and continue until February 4 and our English Language Arts clinics will begin on February 25 and continue through March 18.

In closing I wish everyone continues to have a wonderful holiday season. Those of you who are in the midst of Hanukkah, continue and for those coming for Christmas, peace on Earth.
