Searingtown School Holds Annual Heritage Celebration

Herricks second graders treated to concert and traditional foods.

Herricks second graders at the Searingtown School held their annual Heritage Celebration On Feb. 15 as a culminating activity of their unit of study of Families, Traditions, and Cultures.

The celebration included a concert that included such songs as “Places in the World,” “Teaching Peace,” “Hooray for the World,” “The Kids of the USA” and “Four Hugs a Day.”

Throughout the unit students learn that America is a nation made up of many different heritages and family traditions and is what makes our country great. They also learn that by understanding others and accepting differences that each and everyone is a messenger of peace.

After the concert students, parents, and staff feasted on a spread of favorite and traditional foods.
