Searingtown School Wins Long Island School Music Competition

Herricks students take first prize in annual music competition.

On October 27, a select group of Searingtown School Orchestra students called the Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Andrea Somma, performed at the Long Island School Music Competition and won first prize.

The group received a monetary award for this achievement.

The event was sponsored by the Korean Parents Associationof Long Island (KPALI). The Searingtown School Chamber Orchestra participated last year and also won.

The Searingtown School Chamber Orchestra also performed for the Village of Williston Park’s Annual Tree Lighting on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.

Their next performance will take place on Tuesday, December 18 at the Herricks Community Center for the Herricks Senior Citizens Program where they will be performing selections of holiday music.
