From voting for BOCES to the budget vote, here are some of the highlights.

During the Wednesday night board of education meeting, which also included the district sports awards, encouraged people to vote.

  • Principal Michael DeMartino was given tenure.
  • The Nassau BOCES budget for proposed operational administrative expenses was $18,947,178. All the board members present with the exception of David Fowler voted for this budget. After the meeting, Fowler noted that though the services from Nassau BOCES "serve a wonderful purpose" he traditionally votes no because it's an additional cost to the taxpayer and sometimes the services are not completely utilized.
  • The following New Hyde Park High School teachers were approved to be paid $1,162 for 14 hours of work being done to conduct the spring SAT prep classes: Bryan DiScala, Ellen VanWie, Michael Stencel, Sheen Kurian, Abbe Katz, Steve Romano and Laurence Mechanic.
