The Sewanhaka District Board of Education held a meeting on Feb. 28. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

Payments

  • The board approved a payment of $4,500 to to Dante Moratto for producing the teacher of the year video presentation for the 2012-2013 school year and other work related to the Opening Day program this upcoming August.
  • A payment of $60 for five sessions was paid to the following district workers related to rehearsals and performances for the 2012 musical: Tom Pinto, Nick Tarantola, Eileen Kramer and Ralph Duke.
  • The board agreed to paid singer and songwriter Jared Campbell $1,800 to have a live concert on March 15 for the Blue Project at New Hyde Park Memorial High School.

  • The board approved sending 25 world language students from New Hyde Park Memorial to Italy in March. Three chaperones are going with the students. The cost per student, which is incurred by the students, is $4,151 which includes meals, lodging, insurance and transportation. One chaperone for every seven students goes for free.
  • The board approved sending 25 New Hyde Park Memorial world language students and three chaperones to Spain. The costs to be incurred by students is $3,633 and includes the same ammenities as the Italy trip. One chaperone for each six students goes for free.
