Sewanhaka Board of Ed Notebook: March 27

Other news from the March 27 board of education meeting.

The Sewanhaka Board of Education held a meeting on Tuesday, March 27. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

  • The next Model UN conference is April 21 at Floral Park High School.
  • Spring recess in the district is from April 6–15. Schools will open again on Monday, April 16.
  • April 24 is the date of the academic awards and May 22 is the athletic awards ceremony. Both events are in the Sewanhaka auditorium at 8 p.m.
  • The board approved sending 105 students to Six Flags in New Jersey for physics day. The ticket costs $28 for each student, which is paid by the student.
  • A trip to Quebec City for 30 New Hyde Park High School students was approved for March, 2013. This trip’s total cost per student is $1,585 and will take place from March 22–26. Three chaperones will go on the trip as well.
  • The board retroactively authorized President Jean Fichtl to attend the NYSSBA 2012 State Legislative Issues conference on March 11–12.

The next meeting of the Sewanhaka District Board of Education will take place on Tuesday, April 24 following the athletic awards ceremony at .
