Sewanhaka Board of Education Notebook: April 24

Here are some of the highlights of the latest meeting.

If you missed Tuesday’s board of education meeting, here are some of the highlights:

Personnel

  • The board approved a change of personnel regarding the curriculum writing of the pre-algebra 7 class in January.
  • Chris Merle was deleted and Dimitrios Drivas was added.
  • The payment of $540 for 12 hours is the same for both professionals.

  • Payments for lighting, visual and sound support at the April 24 and May 22 board of education meetings were approved. This includes a payment of up to $270 to Christopher Brustman for time not exceeding 6 hours. The same time constraints were given for Barbara Priester and her pay would be up to $174.
  • The board approved a retroactive payment of $650 to Marjorie Schiering, a Molloy College professor who taught a literacy workshop at Our Lady of Victory school on March 27.

Public Comment

  • A Floral Park High School parent was the only speaker from the audience at the meeting.
  • She asked about taking the next steps toward possibly getting her daughter enrolled in a school that specializes in the arts.
