Sewanhaka Superintendent Gives Update on Summer Improvements
Dr. Ralph Ferrie explains recent changes and program developments in the district.
During the recent meeting on July 11 at , Sewanhaka District Superintendent Dr. Ralph Ferrie gave a brief update on construction projects currently underway around the district.
is currently having a new elevator installed “as we speak” Dr. Ferrie said, adding that a new gym floor will be installed later this summer.
The superintendent also said that a four-week summer program for seventh and eighth grade students in the district that began on July 9 has 189 seventh grade students and 86 eighth grade students currently enrolled.

New Hyde Park’s program is only for seventh grade students and is designed to give “targeted assistance” in math and English/language arts, Dr. Ferrie explained.
The district’s credit recovery program starts on July 16, Dr. Ferrie said.
