Slight Decrease in 2013-14 State Aid for NHP-GCP Schools

Herricks and Sewanhaka districts see increase in state aid for 2013-14 school year.

The New York State Department of Education released its preliminary district aid estimates for 2013-14 last week. A total of $20.81 billion was recommended statewide, a year-to-year funding increase of $610.30 million or 3.02 percent.

New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District will receive a 1.17 percent decrease in state aid from last year, a cut of $50,665. For the 2012-13 year the district received $4,330,362. For the 2013-14 academic year, it is estimated to receive $4,279,697.

The Sewanhaka Central High School District will receive a 6.48 percent increase in state aid from last year, a hike of $1,654,497. For the 2012-13 year the district received $25,513,421. For the 2013-14 academic year, it is estimated to receive $27,167,918.

The Herricks School District will receive a 3.57 percent increase in state aid from last year, a hike of $297,004. For the 2012-13 year the district received $8,314,639. For the 2013-14 academic year, it is estimated to receive $8,611,643.
