Voter's Guide: New Hyde Park-Garden City Park, Herricks School Budget, Board Election

New Hyde Park-Garden City Park

New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District residents will vote on the district’s $36 million proposed budget for the 2014-15 school year on Tuesday.

The proposal calls for a 1.55 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.64 percent percent tax levy increase, which is within the state's tax cap.

School officials say the fiscal plan allows for that preservation of all programs for students, balances instruction within decent average class sizes of 22 students, and maintains all personnel.

Two candidates are officially running for two school board seats. Incumbents Tara Notine and Patricia Rudd are both running unopposed.

Voting will be held 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Manor Oaks School in New Hyde Park.
