The Senior setter is having her most productive year on the team.
Senior Marissa Ngai has been a member of the since she was a sophomore; she picked up the game in 9th grade and has been improving as a player ever since.
"My friend got me into it when I was in ninth grade," Ngai said. "I just picked it up and stuck with it because it was something I really enjoyed doing."
She plays at the setter position, helping her teammates at the front of the net get ready for the kill shot.

"We work together and rely on each other on both sides of the court," Ngai said. "It is my job to set up the hitter for the kill."
She has been very successful at doing just that this season, recording a team high 165 assists in eleven games. Ngai's best game performance was against Bethpage on Sept. 22 where she totaled 30 assists. She also had 25 assists in a 3-2 win over Great Neck South.

Ngai also plays lacrosse in the spring and displays her school spirit as a member of the school's kickline team. But volleyball is her favorite sport and is something she would like to continue to do when she moves on to college next year.
"Obviously I'd love to play in college but if I can't make a team I'm going to continue playing at the club level," she said.
She has looked at schools such as SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Oneonta and the University of Maryland.
