Hall of Fame Induction Corrects Oversight of New Hyde Park Alumni

Steve Roerden, Michelle Hacker and Jan Daly finally receive school hall of fame plaques.

It was better late than never for three all-county athletes from New Hyde Park Memorial High School, who were inducted into the school’s athletic hall of fame this past Friday night at halftime during the game between the Gladiators and H. Frank Carey at Tully Park.

Steve Roerden, Michelle Hacker and Jan Daly all received their inductee plaques from Sewanhaka Superintendent Dr. Ralph Ferrie, signifying their nclusion into the hall.

The trio had been the victims of an oversight during the initial induction ceremony during the school’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2007.

Roerden was an all-county in both football and baseball; Hacker made all-county in field hockey and girls lacrosse and Daly was an all-county player in both lacrosse and football.
