During the halftime show, the homecoming king and queen were announced.

“It was so hard to pick out a homecoming king and queen because so many votes became ties,” said Assistant Principal Andrew Frisone. “But because of the ties, instead of doing the traditional five and five, we went with six and six, which just increased the competition.”

The had some work to do in the final half of the game, but despite their loss, Ryan Gaitan won a jump ball falling into the end zone for the only touchdown for Herricks.

“It just didn’t go our way tonight,” said Head Coach Mike Yoo. “We worked on our pass protection, but I thought we could have worked a little better upfront. It’s not due to lack of effort. The guys went out, played their hearts out and they worked hard all week and I’m proud of them.”

So far, Herrick’s holds a record of 1-6 and will take on Long Beach Oct. 29. Yoo said he will be showing his team film footage and will keep the team working hard before the game.

“Overall we had a great atmosphere," Yoo said. “The crowd came out, there were a thousand people here tonight and they wanted to put on a show.”
