Lacrosse Player from New Hyde Park Named Big East Player of the Week

Former Holy Trinity attackman Sean Rogers earns second player of the week title.

Former Holy Trinity lacrosse player Sean Rogers from New Hyde Park has been named the Big East Offensive Player of the Week for men’s college lacrosse for the second time.

The Notre Dame senior shares the honors with teammate Kevin Randall, who were instrumental in Saturday's 6-5 win at No. 18 Drexel.

Rogers tallied the game winner against the Dragons with 4:42 left in the game by scoring a game-high tying two goals in Notre Dame’s win and picked up a career-high three ground balls. His first goal gave the Irish their first lead of the game (3-2) midway through the third quarter.

Rogers was previously named the player of the week on March 28, 2011.

No. 7 Notre Dame will play No. 19 Hofstra this Saturday at 3 p.m. at James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead.
