Lexi Peveraro Recalls Girls Basketball Team's Friendship on and off Court

New Hyde Park's dynamic guard is a do-everything kind of player

This year was the most productive season for the Gladiators senior guard Lexi Peveraro. The stat sheets for each game tell the story as Peveraro's name is repeatedly mentioned in the top four lines for scorers.

Her best game of the season was an 11 point night at in early January.

This was Peveraro's second year playing for Head Coach Hugh Flaherty after two years on the junior varsity team.

"Last year was a tough one for us," Peveraro explained. "We weren't able to win one game in conference play. But going to the school-sized conferences has really helped us and I think we were a lot more competitive this time around."

Peveraro described the team's close bond by saying, "The best thing about our team was that we had such a great chemistry on and off the court. Everybody gets along and I think that translated itself on the court.  We also have such a good relationship with our coaches and they are really easy to work with."

The Gladiators lost in the first round of the playoffs in overtime to .

Peveraro said she will continue to play basketball and soccer, which is her favorite sport, in college at an intramural level. She plans to major in the field of radio communications and is looking at both Montclair State and the University of Buffalo.
