New Hyde Park 11/12 Girls Softball Bounces Back Against Pennsylvania

New Hyde Park shuts out Pennsylvania 9-0.

After losing a heartbreaking 1-0 game the night before, the New Hyde Park girls 11/12 softball team came out swinging against the Pennsylvania State winner.

Starter Jenny Hickey pitched 5 more shutout innings allowing just 5 hits and walking only a single batter before Kayla Fitzpatrick closed out the win with a scoreless sixth inning.

New Hyde Park scored 3 runs in the first inning as Fitzpatrick led off with a walk then came around to score on back-to-back-to-back line drive singles from Melissa Ward, Ann Grimshaw and Maggie Donnelly.

Donnelly added another RBI single in the third inning to extend the New Hyde Park lead to 5-0. The scored 4 runs in the third to push the lead to 7-0 as Ward, Grimshaw and Donnelly opened the inning with 3 consecutive singles to load the bases again. Hannah Arkin singled before pinch hitter Nicole Kuzler singled in 2 runs.

New Hyde Park scored twice in the fourth inning as well as Ward and Grimshaw again had base hit singles followed by a walk to Donnelly to load the bases. Katie Tubridy then stepped in and lined a single to left field to score a run.

Hannah Arkin followed with her second hit of the game to plate the final run of the game.
