New Hyde Park Boys Lacrosse Lose to Mineola, 10-8

The lost a non-conference game to Mineola away on Tuesday afternoon with a score of 10-8.

New Hyde Park was leading by one going into the second half but the back and forth game didn't swing in New Hyde Park's favor again before it ended.

Heroes: For New Hyde Park, Tim Brooks and Dan Justice both scored three goals. Both players were crucial in moving the ball around and keeping it out of Mineola's sticks whenever possible.

Mineola Head Coach Mike Perro noted that Nick Fabiano took charge of the attack during the game and that Brian Gaffney had some good dodges during the game.

Turning point: New Hyde Park had a lead going into the second half of the game with a score of 5-4. Mineola then tied up that game to 5 all by the 9:06 minute mark in the third quarter and New Hyde Park brought the game back to a 6 all tie at the 6:56 mark. The third quarter ended with Mineola up 8-7 and that leading position remained throughout the rest of the game.

Quotable: New Hyde Park Head Coach Michael Milio noted that his team's first half was great and that the players had a lot of "heart" and "hustle."

The team has some little things to work on including their defense and slides.

For Mineola, Perro thinks that his team is starting to move in the right direction for this season. He added that the team's communication has gotten better.
