New Hyde Park Girls Lacrosse Loses to Lynbrook 14-11

The lost to Lynbrook in Monday afternoon's game at .

New Hyde Park was up at the half but a different Lynbrook team came out to greet them in the second half and ultimately took the win.

Heroes: Lexi Peveraro moved the ball around the court well, found her open teammates and set up many assists. She was also formidable on defense.

This game was also the last one for Brianna Chin who will be having surgery soon. Coach Lorin Worth said of Chin that she would miss this "great defender" who communicates well with her other teammates and is "aggressive."

For Lynbrook, Carrie Feltkamp and Julie Wigand were among the top scorers and tough defenders.

Turning point: New Hyde Park was leading at the half wth a score of 8-5, but Lynbrook quickly tied up the game and then kept going.

Quotable: Wirth noted that her team needs to work on their ground ball pickups, seeing the field and cutting. She said another key point is for New Hyde Park not to rush their game.

Lynbrook Head Coach Vincent Tetro noted that his team had a flat first half but he told them during halftime that the team needed to calm down and play their game.

"If you protect the ball, then good things will come," Tetro said.

Bottom line: Lynbrook's defense in the second half kept New Hyde Park from getting the ball and from scoring many of their goals, Tetro noted.
