New Hyde Park Girls Little League Softball Team Honored by Mets

Team that reached Little League World Series goes on-field at Citi Field

Less than a week after being , the members of the New Hyde Park Little League Girls Softball Majors team got a tast of the real Major Leagues with an on-field experience at Citi Field from the New York Mets Wednesday night prior to the game against the Phillies.

Despite the 3-2 loss to the Phillies, “the girls had a great time,” team manager Tom Donnelly said.

Mets thirdbaseman David Wright, outfielder Mike Baxter, Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins and firstbaseman Ryan Howard all spent some time with them signing for every girl and talking to them about the World Series experience.

The picture with the coaches was taken just before game time when they announced the girls and all their accomplishments.

In all  about 85 people from New Hyde Park attended the game, including every player with their parents, siblings and some of the members of the New Hyde Park Little League board.
