New Hyde Park Olympian Watch 2012: Day 3

Following New Hyde Park’s Lisa Karcic and the Croatian basketball team at the London Olympics.

For those of you who are Olympic junkies or who just want to know how our local Olympian did in their latest match, Patch is keeping track of all the scoring as and hold themselves up to the Olympic ideal of “Citius, Altius, Fortius” in their quest for glory at the 30th Olympic Summer Games in London.

Following up their , the Croatian women’s basketball team had another powerhouse to contend with Monday: China.

Again, Croatia’s starting five could not measure up to their opponents, dropping the contest 83-58. Their starters were .412 from the floor, with only guard Sandra Mandir and Anja Jelavic nabbing 5 FGs. China meanwhile managed a .473 shooting percentage, but were worse from behind the arc, getting only two 3-pointers out of 13 attempts.

The largest problem for the Croatian team continues to be turnovers as they had 23 in the contest compared to 11 from China, who also managed to swipe the ball 9 times.

Down only 3 points at the end of the first quarter, Croatia (0-2) saw China (2-0) outscore them 15-10 in the second and 25-14 in the third.

Karcic saw 2:11 worth of time on the floor in the game, but did not account for any of the scoring or other stats.
