For those of you who are Olympic junkies or who just want to know how our local Olympian did in their latest match, Patch is keeping track of all the scoring as and hold themselves up to the Olympic ideal of “Citius, Altius, Fortius” in their quest for glory at the 30th Olympic Summer Games in London.
The London 2012 Olympic Games are the first-ever appearance of the Croatian women’s basketball team. Now they have their first-ever victory of the Olympic tournament thanks to a 75-56 win over Angola in a battle of winless squads in Group A.
The Croatian women never trailed in the contest, getting off 24 points in the first quarter, 17 in the second, 18 in the third and 16 in the fourth.

The win puts Croatia in a tie with the Czech Republic, with a final day of pool play remaining. If both teams win, the Czech Republic would advance by owning the better record against Croatia.
Croatia (1-3) had a .367shooting percentage from the floor, making 22-60 while their opponents only made one basket less, going 21-63. They also had their turnovers more under control than in previous games, only having six compared with Angola’s four. They also were a force on rebounds, making 51 compared to 33 from Angola (0-4).

Forward Ana Lelas led Croatia in scoring with 23 points, 6 rebounds and was 5-7 from behind the arc.
Karcic’s time on the floor has been steadily falling, as she only played 1:48 in the game and came away with a rebound in the contest.
