New Hyde Park Softball Wins First Playoff Game Against Jericho, 10-4

Host beat Jericho in the teams' first games of the playoffs, 10-4.

After beating Jericho, New Hyde Park will face Floral Park on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

"Going into the next playoff game we are focused on confidence and proving ourselves," said New Hyde Park Head Coach Jackie Rizzuti. "We are going into Monday's game against Floral Park with determination to hit off of Sam Giovanniello and to limit the errors in the field."

When New Hyde Park previously faced off on April 11 against Floral Park, in large part due to Giovanniello's pitching. But in a game at the end of April, 5-0 .

"Our focus is on being aggressive and smart on every pitch, defensively and offensively," Rizzuti said. "Every game from this moment forward we are going to play as our last, with all of our heart. Sam is an excellent pitcher but New Hyde Park needs to remember that so is Lisa O'Callaghan and New Hyde Park is going to do what it takes to back Lisa up."
