Soccer: New Hyde Park 2011 Girls Preview
The New Hyde Park girls soccer team returns some key players and is looking for another solid year.
The New Hyde Park 2011 girls soccer team hopes to have as successful a season as last year in which they lost to South Side in a thrilling double overtime playoff semifinal game.
"We will be looking to keep more possession this year," said Head Coach Gary Gregory. "Our goal is to continue to move with and without the ball to create new angles, play smart and tough defense and most importantly finish the ball."
The Gladiators will be playing in the toughest division, A1, where every team from last year made the Nassau County playoffs.

Key Departing/Returning Players:
The Gladiators bring back one of their top returning scorers, Junior Gabriella Tomasini, who will be playing her fourth year on the varsity team. She will be counted on to score as an attacking midfielder and in the forward position.
Junior Caroline Rodgers will play up top in the forward position.
"Rodgers work ethic is second to none," said Gregory. "She will always be by the goal looking for a shot or to lay the ball off to one of her teammates."
Angelica Eranovic is an All-Conference player who will play a critical part in the midfield position. A senior playing in her fifth year on varsity, Eranovic will look to lead the charge by setting up plays with fantastic passes. She will also play an integral part in trying to make defensive stops.
Senior Savannah Campana will be playing in her third year on varsity in the Center Back spot.
"Her size, speed and toughness has helped her to shut down some of the top scorers in Nassau County," said Gregory.
The Gladiators main losses will be goalie Christina Burkey and forwards Lexi Peveraro and Jenna Bicierro.
