Swimming Prohibited at 10 County Beaches
Concerns about unsafe levels of bacteria in the water prompted the county to close local beaches.
After thunderstorms whipped through the area, the Nassau County Health Department closed local beaches for the second day in a row.
Citing dangerous runoff that can create unsafe levels of bacteria in the water, the health department closed:
- Centre Island Sound
- Creek Club
- Lattingtown Beach
- Laurel Hollow Beach
- Piping Rock Beach Club
- Prybil Beach
- Ransom Beach
- Roosevelt Beach
- Soundside Beach
- Stehli Beach
If no other storms roll through the area, all beaches are anticipated to open Thursday.
